The British Museum has the chance now to show that it there to serve the world as the museum's director keeps saying all the time. The museum should now return to the Egyptians the Rosetta stone which has been in the museums since 1802 so that the Egyptians can finally view their own artefact captured by Napoleon's marauding army from whom the British acquired it.
The British should finally pay attention to the various United Nations and UNESCO resolutions which require that such cultural objects be returned to their countries of origin. When are the Western countries going to accept that taking the cultural artefacts of other peoples cannot be the basis of international cooperation?
